Food production derives from crop cultivation which forms an essential part for meeting the daily consumption by more than seven billions of people in the world. Without cultivation, starvation will become an unavoidable scenario which causes civil unrest, malnutrition and followed by mortality.
As a result of this, agricultural wastes or by-products are generated as long as the daily consumption of food by human beings is taking place. According to the Nigerian Journal of Technology’s findings, global agricultural wastes are residues which were estimated at around 998 million metric tons in 2016.
Because of the daily food consumption is needed, the existence of the agricultural wastes become an inevitable part of the global problem of how to tackle this issue after the crop is harvested. In the ancient time, burning agricultural wastes in most developing countries was not classified as illegal activity until legislation was enacted before it was declared illegal.
